Why is Home Sewerage Pump Maintenance Important?

Failed sewerage system with sewage overflowThe words ‘sewage’ and ‘pump failure’ aren’t things you want to hear in the one sentence. Because sewerage pumps live in an extremely adverse environment they need to be regularly cleaned and maintained.

When a sewerage pump fails several things can happen. You can end up with raw sewage bubbling up onto your lawn which is obviously not ideal! Having to shut off the pump for any length of time can result in needing to restrict water usage (i.e. not being able to flush your toilet) until a technician can remedy the problem.

At PASLR we put a lot of emphasis on the importance of regular maintenance for all home pressure systems, including sewerage systems.

On a maintenance service call we check your pump and controller are running properly and that there are no blockages or build up in the pump or pipework. We will also give everything a good clean – all the things that help keep the system running efficiently.

We often find sewerage pumps have been under specified, so we’ll also make sure you have the right pump for the job and everything is running as efficiently as possible.

We also recommend that every so often you have the pit vacuumed out to avoid an excessive build-up of gunk.
If it has been a while since your sewerage pump has been serviced, give us a call on 0800 255 786 and we can get someone out to you right away.

Info iconThe deadliest enemy to the sewerage pump is wet wipes. Flushed down the toilet, these accumulate, rolling up into a ball and jamming the pump. If left to build they up can destroy the pump.

Info iconDid you know? Sewerage refers to the physical system in place (pipes, pumps, pits and treatment facilities) through which sewage (the poop) flows.
