Make sure you do this when you clean your gutters

To preserve your health, comfort and sanity – if you’re on tank water, make sure you disconnect your feeder (down) pipes when cleaning your roof!

You’d be surprised how many people clean their roofs and gutters, but forget that everything (leaves, dirt, bird poo and any detergent being used) will wash down the feeder pipes and into the water tank if you’re collecting your rainwater.

The result will be contaminated water – gunk in your tank, frothy water and stink and stench which can sit in the pipes for ages. This doesn’t just present a health hazard (chemicals on your skin, unsafe drinking water) and some serious discomfort (poo that stinks!!) but you’ll likely incur costs of buying bottled water while you wait for the tank to be cleaned and/or the system to be flushed through which, let’s face it, is very inconvenient and a waste of money. It all adds up to a lot of hard work for you – and potentially your filters – to the point where they may stop working.

Save yourself an emergency callout and unnecessary costs and inconvenience – make sure you disconnect your downpipes when cleaning your roof or gutters … and don’t forget to connect them back up when done!

…. you’re welcome :-)
