Our checklist for the best summer
holiday ever
Summer is here and Christmas is just around the corner. The PASLR team take a lot of things seriously (safety, reliable pumps and healthy drinking water to name a few), but we are also serious about having the best summer holiday ever. Here are our top suggestions to make sure your summer sizzles.
Get bach ready! If it’s been a while since you’ve been to the bach it could be time to change your under bench or bench top water filter (or get one installed if you’re sick of the kids complaining about the nasty tasting water). Pick up a replacement filter from us before you go – order online or pop into the showroom.
Keep your lights on. Is your outdoor lighting on the blink? Do you need some extra light over the BBQ or want to create ambience for the festive season? Make the evening last longer with good quality outdoor lighting and upgrade to LED to keep your lights on longer.
Check before you swim. Our team are always thinking about water! Before you go bombing off the pier or taking a dip in the river make sure you check the LAWA website for live information on water quality and swimming conditions across the country. If you’re heading out on the boat make sure there are lifejackets for everyone, and remember, stay safe and slip, slop, slap and wrap.
Never run out of water. If you’re heading to the bach and it’s been a while since you’ve used the tank, the water could be stagnant – a dose of Microlene Acquasafe will treat the water to ensure its safe. Check, check and check again. Now is the time to deal with any minor problems before they turn into big ones. Hot water cylinders and fridges are notorious for going on the blink at the worst possible time. If you have leaking pipework or dripping taps take care of them ASAP. Before you travel make sure your car is up to scratch to keep your family and friends safe on the road… and pack snacks… plenty of snacks!
Get organised. Before it gets too crazy out there, get your Christmas shopping done early. With shortages and delays of goods coming in from overseas, shop local and support Kiwi businesses who may have been doing it tough this year. It’s also important to be extra vigilant this time of year as theft increases and opportunists are about. LED is the best choice for security lighting and if you’re heading away, get timers on your lights.
Have fun and rest up. It’s been a big year and I think we’re all ready for a jolly good break.
