- Contains carbon media
- Lifespan of up to 2 years or 10,000L – whichever comes first
- Smaller filter due to no KDF media
- 10 Micron to 1 Micron

The key difference between the two filters is the KDF media which is only found in the mains water model. The KDF media’s specific purpose is to remove heavy metals such as lead and copper, often found in water which flows through old underground pipes.

Why you don’t want KDF media in your filter if you’re on rainwater
If you’re on rainwater you DON’T want to use a water filter with KDF media as it can react to the acidity in rainwater causing a bitter taste.
Why are the replacement filters different sizes?
Mains water replacement filters are larger due to the additional KDF media.

Why do they have different lifespans?
The mains water filters have a 3 year (or 30,000L) lifespan because the KDF media provides a ‘pre-screen’ before the water reaches the carbon media, meaning less of a ‘workout’ for the carbon media, allowing it do its job for longer.
The rain water filters, by comparison, are carbon-only filters and have a 2 year (or 10,000L) lifespan.
Which filter should I use if I am using bore water or a combination of bore water and rain water?
You’re still best to use the filter without the KDF media, either the MSP or the MQCSP.
